Detroit, MI- The second Warrior Wednesday will take place on Wednesday March 27th, 2019 from Crystal Gardens in Southgate, MI. The second installment of this mid-week MMA showcase will feature a 170 title fight in the main event. Willis ‘Silverback’ Black (6-2) will defend his title against Tony ‘Tmurf’ Murphy (2-0). Once again the pro fights will be featured live exclusively on UFC Fight Pass.
The champion Willis Black won the WXC 170 title at WXC 74 in November of 2018. Black got the vacant title by defeating Jake Bostwick. That fight only took Black 16 seconds to get his sixth pro win. After losing two fights in a row, Black has now won three in a row. With those three fights all happening in 2018. In addition to three wins and finally capturing a pro WXC title, Black also had a clean sweep of the 2018 WXC awards, winning submission, knockout and fight of the year. Black looks to build off a great 2018 by getting a win at Warrior Wednesday. In his six pro wins, Black has finished them all with three knockouts and submissions a piece.
Tony Murphy brings in an undefeated record to his WXC debut. Despite that record only being (2-0), Murphy had 21 fights as amateur dating back to 2012 and going (14-7) in those fights. Murphy turned pro in April of 2018 and last fought back in January of this year. ‘TMurf’ has finished both of those fights with one knockout and submission each. With a wealth of experience, Murphy looks to test himself against Black and capture his first pro MMA title.
