Detroit, MI- Warrior Wednesday I has a last minute change. Eric ‘The Ram’ Ramirez (3-3) will step in on two days notice vs Josh ‘That Guy’ Smith (6-5). Smith was originally scheduled to fight Chris Johnson at 125 lbs. but Johnson was unable to compete. With the short notice nature of the fight, the bout has been moved up to 135 lbs.
Josh Smith will be making his WXC return on February 27th. After two years away from the WXC steel, Smith has lost his last two fights. He is hoping a return to Warrior Xtreme and the new year will help get back on the winning track. Smith has been fighting since 2012 and after an undefeated run as an amateur, he turned pro in 2014. Smith has shown a lot of power at 125, having won half of his six wins by knockout. He will look to display that power on Warrior Wednesday.
Ramirez returns to the WXC for the fourth time in his career and second appearance already here in 2019. He last fought at WXC 75 less than a month ago. He lost to the very tough Dan Berry in that bout. Ramirez will look to rebound from that loss by getting right back into the WXC steel. Of his three pro wins, all have come by way of submission.
