Detroit, MI- Two up and coming fighters will enter the WXC steel against each other as former WXC amateur champion Mike ‘Dark Shark’ Johnson (2-1) faces Matt Eliott (2-0) at bantamweight. This will be the WXC pro debut for Elliott, where as his opponent in Johnson has fought all his pro bouts under the WXC banner.
Matt Elliott has been fighting since 2013 as an amateur before turning pro in 2017. So far as a pro he is undefeated and he has finished both of his two pro wins by submission. He has fought as low as 125 lbs. so he will perfectly comfortable fighting at 135. Elliott looks to make a name for himself in his WXC debut and keep his undefeated record.
Johnson looks to win back to back fights for the first time in his pro career. After suffering his first loss at WXC 69 in July to Mitchell Tucker, Johnson bounced back with a win at WXC 70 in November. That win was over Anthony Fleming in what was a unanimous decision victory for the Stars & Strikes product. Showing off much improved striking in that fight, Johnson looks to take that momentum into this bout at Night of Champions X.
Doors open at 6pm with the fights starting at 7pm on February 17th at the Crystal Gardens in Southgate, MI. More fights will be announced in the coming weeks along with ticket and broadcast information. Stayed tuned to WXCMMA.com for more information on WXC 71: Night of Champions X.
