Detroit, MI- The always entertaining Marcus Maulding (3-6) returns to the WXC steel against a newcomer to the WXC pro ranks in Korey Kuppe (6-2). Maulding will move back up to middleweight for this bout as his was scheduled at a 160 lbs. catchweight. Though he missed weight for that bout, he will comfortable at 185 lbs. where he as already competed several times as a pro. His opponent in Kuppe had fought in the amateur ranks at 170 lbs. but has settled into 185 lbs. as pro, fighting seven bouts at the weight class.
Kuppe competed as an amateur in the WXC back in 2012 but has not competed in the WXC steel since. He turned pro shortly after that in November of 2013. As a pro he has finished all six of his pro wins and has only been to the score cards once, win or lose. Those six wins are all by submission as well. Currently riding a two fight winning streak, Kuppe looks to roll into that momentum into 2018 and get a win in the WXC steel for the first time in five years.
The many time WXC veteran returns to the WXC cage once again, this time back up at 185 lbs. Maulding fell short in his last fight losing to Ken Hunt at WXC 70 in November. Despite having success in the fight, he eventually got knocked out in the second round. That fight made it three loses in a row for Maulding who is hoping a move back to 185 lbs. will get him back on the winning track. Much his opponent, Maulding is not known to go to the scorecards as he has never done that in nine pro fights. Of his three pro wins, he has two knockouts and one submission to his credit.
Doors open at 6pm with the fights starting at 7pm on February 17th at the Crystal Gardens in Southgate, MI. More fights will be announced in the coming weeks along with ticket and broadcast information. Stayed tuned to WXCMMA.com for more information on WXC 71: Night of Champions X.
