Detroit, MI- Josh Shaw (2-1) returns to the WXC steel against promotional newcomer Mike Schenavar (1-1) for WXC 70. This lightweight bout will be Shaw’s first fight since his only pro loss. That bout was in June of this year but was all the way in China. This time around he won’t have to go half-way around the world to compete. With that in mind, expect the Scorpion Fighting Systems product ready to get back on the winning track.
Shaw last fought in WXC in January of this year for WXC 66 against Aaron Smith. That fight earned Shaw his second pro victory via unanimous decision. His other pro win was by knockout in just nine seconds of the very first round. He has only been fighting professionally for a little over a year after competing several years as an amateur.
His opponent on Veteran’s Day is Gracie AOM disciple Mike Schenavar. After competing as an amateur for two years and complying a (6-2) record, he went pro in May of 2016. Both pro fights came in 2016 and his lone victory was by decision. The majority of his fighting career has been spent fighting at 135 lbs. so it will be interesting to see how he adapts to the higher weight. He has only fought at 155 once as an amateur but was victorious in the bout. Regardless of the division, 135, 145 or 155 he has only been finished once as an amateur or pro and has never been knocked out.
Doors open at 6pm with the fights starting at 7pm on November 11th. Tickets for WXC 70 can be purchased here and are priced as follows; Bleachers- $30, General Admission- $40, Cageside $65, Front Row- $100, VIP table $700 which can seat up to 10 guests.
